The cause

Up to 85% of childhood blindness can be prevented or treated. 75.7% of avoidable visual impairment comes down to uncorrected refractive errors — a pair of glasses can be the whole fix.
96% caught at school
96% of eye conditions identified through school screening are preventable or treatable. Early, local screening is the highest-leverage intervention there is.
$118B lost a year
India loses an estimated $118 billion annually in economic productivity because of childhood blindness. Restoring sight isn't just care — it's one of the highest-return investments in public health.
A growing emergency
The third epidemic: Retinopathy of Prematurity.
As neonatal care improves and more premature babies survive, India is facing a new and urgent crisis. Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) can cause permanent blindness in premature infants within weeks if it isn't caught in time — but with timely screening, it's almost entirely preventable.
What it is
A preventable eye disorder found in prematurely born infants, driven by India's expanding neonatal care capacity.
The window
Without timely screening, premature babies can lose vision permanently within weeks of birth.

Early diagnosis prevents lifelong blindness — which is exactly what our ROP screening program is built around.

Raju, who have dedicated their lives to restoring sight for children, and we operate as part of Rotaract International District 3011, covering the NCR and parts of Haryana.
